Sophie Khan

DESIGNER

Sophie studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, where she graduated with first class honours.  She has worked on numerous theatre, film and costume design projects  such as BAFTA Cymru nominated short films and as a Production Designer for ITV Wales.  Sophie has travelled widely in Europe, the Middle East and Australasia.   Her background in Eastern and Western cultures has inspired and influenced her work in art, design and costume.

In 2007 she collaborated with Tom Critchley in the role of set designer for the first theatrical production of Quadrophenia (Sherman Theatre, Cardiff) and in the same year won the Philip and Christine Carne award for theatre design.

Other design credits include:  Travels with my Aunt (Oldham Coliseum), which was nominated for best production in the M.E.N. Theatre Awards, Virta flow (Linbury Studio) a collaboration with Finnish dancer/choreographer Tanja Raman, Hobson's Choice (Bute Theatre, Cardiff), The Wedding Party (Capital Theatre, Manchester).  Current work Linea-Tracing Space premiers in Chapter Arts Centre June 09 and tours Britain in the Autumn.
